Nasi Lemak Warong Sinarnor @Chan Sow Lin: spicy sambal, nasi kukus

In 2009 (story –> HERE) my nasi lemak with 2 eggs plus the standard condiments was RM2.50.
My partner’s order was RM3.70 with sotong.

Today (2017), a serving of sotong alone is RM3.00. And a basic set as below is RM1.70.

What is happening to our economy? Our RM?

BELOW: This for RM1.70.

No doubt it generally cost more to eat out currently. For Warong Sinarnor, I am at least thankful that the quality of their dishes remained on par, even if prices have almost doubled.

As I’ve gushed about the sambal and perfectly fragrant fluffy rice 8 years ago, I am glad I could say the same now.
This is one of the very few nasi lemak stalls in KL/PJ that still serves a spicy sambal. Not super spicy (that doesn’t exist anymore) sadly, but certainly spicier than the current sweet ones.

I was greedy and since I don’t visit often (it is a 40 drive/ 1.5 hours MRT/LRT ride from TTDI) I took as many dishes as possible. This was RM13 – basic set with add -ons of sotong, chicken, beef rendang.

I would rate Tanglin’s sotong better but this wasn’t too bad – springy and tender to bite.

Do you know that this is a business run by three generations of cool women who have been steaming their nasi lemak using wood fire for over four decades? Each rice grain stay whole and fluffy and carries a delectable santan aroma. As expected there are a whole repertoire of dishes to go with your order, but I’m happy enough with eggs and the sambal.

It is just that good.

BELOW: Their paru is supposedly excellent as well.

Dine under the trees or within the stall.

Besides nasi lemak, their lontong is commendable too. Otherwise you can enjoy their dishes with beehoon.
